1929 Ford Model A Tudor 2-Door Sedan 3-Speed Manual, Ontario Safetied SOLD for $14,000
This is a 1929 Ford Model A Tudor 2-Door Sedan 3-Speed Manual offered from the collection of “The Big Guy”. It was one of two Model A’s acquired for his personal collection in 2011 after what we surmise was an exhaustive restoration. This is the second we are offering, the listing for the sale of the first can be reviewed here. This car presents as very clean after being carefully kept the past 14 years in the collection. This car is finished in green with black fenders over a tan cloth interior and is powered by a 200.5 cubic inch inline-four paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. This Model A Tudor is offered by the seller with a Ford Instruction Book (1929’s version of an owner’s manual), a black leather luggage trunk mounted at the rear, and one key in Ottawa, ON. Ontario buyers, please note: this car is being sold with a valid Ontario Safety Standards Certificate.

The body is finished in a two-tone green and black colour scheme with the gloss black fenders and a black vinyl roof. Other exterior features include a colour-matched metal windshield visor, rear quarter windows that can be opened, and dual front bumper bars. The top-hinged windshield tilts outward for ventilation, and a single windshield wiper is mounted under the visor. Stylized steel step plates with Ford emblem are installed over the vinyl-covered running boards and chrome components include a radiator shell, headlight buckets, dual front bumper bars, rear luggage rack arms, and twin A-pillar mounted side view mirrors. The chrome and paint retain a bright shine and a period Ontario licence plate is shown mounted at the front of the car.
This Model A is fitted with 21-inch black wire-spoke wheels, each fitted with chrome centre caps. The tires are 4.50-inch Firestone All-Weather tires, including the full-size spare mounted at the driver’s side of the car. A black leather luggage trunk is mounted to the rear rack with riveted trim, metal latches, and side handles. A single taillight is shown on the passenger’s side and braking is managed by mechanical drums at all four corners, as pledged by the original rear-mounted badge ‘Four Wheel brakes’.
The interior is trimmed in a tan cloth on the front bucket seats and rear bench, with matching material on the lower door cards. A parcel shelf is fitted behind the rear bench. Map pockets are sewn into each front door panel, and metal finished in matching paint is used for the upper surfaces and window surrounds. Manual window cranks are in place at all four side windows, and rubber mats protect the wooden floorboards. The ceiling is finished with a ribbed cloth headliner.
The factory four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a centrally mounted instrument cluster that includes an ampmeter, fuel gauge, odometer, and speedometer, housed within a polished bezel. A floor-mounted shifter and handbrake are centrally mounted. The dash combines colour-matched steel and polished accent trim. The odometer shows just under 12,600 miles, we are calling this unit TMU (Total Mileage Unknown).
Power comes from a 200.5 cubic inch L-head inline four-cylinder engine equipped with a single updraft carburetor and mechanical ignition. This engine was factory rated at 40 horsepower and 128 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed sliding-gear manual transmission which includes a mechanical clutch, solid rear axle, and transverse leaf springs at the front and rear. Underbody photos are included in the photo gallery for buyer review. The owner believes the Model A will pass Ontario Safety as it sits.
